The cilia mechanosensation debate gets (bio)physical

Dagmar Wachten and I had a great time writing this Nature Reviews Nephrology News and Views on the super-hot back-to-back Science papers recently from Katoh et al (Hamada lab) and Djejoune et al (Yuan lab) using lastest optical tweezers, calcium biosensors and advanced imaging to define PKD2-dependent mechanosensation functions for cilia in the embryonic node! Amazing work which leads to many new questions… The final bell for this debate has yet to be rung! https://doi.org/10.1038/s41581-023-00701-4 (Read here without paywall: https://rdcu.be/c7usw)
